As some already know, I run a BBS called Haciend el Bananas. It’s on telnet, it has 10 or something nodes and it’s located somewhere in Finland. I’ve had Mystic 1.08/a32 on Linux for quite a while, and now I’d want something different. Enthral seems to be one of the few bbs softwares that are still developed. Theres also the thing that I know how to contact the makers of Enthral (unlike the guy g00r00, developer of Mystic, who took a spring break in 2005 and hasnt come back..)
Anyways, Enthral seems like a nice bbs software. It’s multi-platform so it runs on Linux, OSX and on FreeBSD. This opens a few opportunities. I’ve bugged Truck, the fellow sysop of Haciend, to put the Enthral installation back online. So far nothing has happened so I installed Enthral on my Mac Mini. The configuration is quite a simple task and is done by editing .ini files. So, I downloaded the .dmg, installed the software and rebooted. The start of New Haciend.
The first configuration is pretty straight forward, just d/l the package and install it according to the directions. Now I’ve been busy replacing the ansi-files (it comes with Haunting The Chapel’s ansiworks and it would be really lame to use any of those). It even installed itself as a service.
It just drives me freaking nuts to do anything with OSX and virtual vmware windowsXP things. I havent been able to find any decent, or even half decent programs for drawing ansi. I’ll update the Haciend BBS -page in my blog and post news if I get something more done. Now I’m lacking update.pl file and seems that the MacPorts thing has broken on my Mini. NICE. I need to get ports working again and install svn to get the latest trunk version.
